Fill the space that is behind the hole with the substance in the caulk until it slightly overfills. Lastly, use the trimmer to cut off the extra caulk and make the surface all flush.
If the hole is bigger, after cleaning the area you need to cut the siding into a clean rectangle and cut a scrap piece of siding into the same shape with the same dimensions. Place this extra piece on the hole and cut the sides until it fits perfectly. Grab the vinyl siding caulk and fit it into a caulk gun. Place it on the sides until you manage to secure the extra piece in place. Let it dry and you are done!
